Ideas Must Be Brand New

"Most often, ideas evolve over time," says Caterina Fake, who co-founded the photo-sharing site Flickr. "With my current startup, Findery, I thought I had the idea when I was camping with my daughter in 2010. But then my ex-husband reminded me that I'd actually talked about doing that in 2005."

Fake's latest site allows people to pin notes and photos on places they’ve been to on a shared map.

"I have notebooks full of ideas, none of which are ready to be realized," she says. "And if I go back far enough, I find that I have the same idea again and again."
