Musk wants to be able to drive from Los Angeles to New York by
recharging his electric car exclusively at Tesla-owned stations along the way.
And he wants to do it this year. Tesla said in May that it's building charging
stations from coast to coast, which should help broaden the luxury automaker's
appeal. Without these stations, drivers are limited by the car battery's range
of about 265 miles. A supercharger can repower a Tesla car in 20 to 30 minutes.
