October: Crisis Summit

Oct. 26-27: EU leaders hold their 14th crisis summit in 21 months. After more than 10 hours of talks, leaders agree to leverage the EU's temporary bailout fund to boost its firepower to 1 trillion euros, force private investors to accept a 50 percent haircut on Greek bonds, push European banks to raise 106 billion euros in new capital, and extend a new aid package worth 130 billion euros for Greece.
