Oregon’s energy leadership goes back to the early 1980s, with a law that helped homeowners make weatherproofing improvements. By the end of the decade, the state made utilities consider energy efficiency in project development.

Oregon is among the states that have adopted California’s stringent auto-emission standards, reducing vehicle miles traveled (VHT) and, consequently, greenhouse gas emissions.
