Mount Everest

The world's highest marathon starts near Everest Base Camp in Nepal (elevation: 17,000 feet) and traverses mountain passes for 26.2 miles to the sherpa town of Namche Bazaar. The blessing is that most of the race is downhill, but you'll have earned that—runners spend 15 days trekking to base camp before the run even begins.
