Willie Nelson

In 1990, country singer Willie Nelson received a tax bill of $32 million following an audit that investigated his tax returns back to 1972. In response, Nelson released the double-album "The IRS Tapes: Who'll Buy Memories?" while the IRS auctioned off many of his personal possessions to pay the bill, some of which were purchased by celebrity friends and returned to him. The bill was eventually negotiated down to $16 million, and then again to $6 million, which he paid off in about three years.
