Nuclear Attack

As many as 1,000 centrifuges in an Iranian nuclear plant were temporarily disrupted by a computer attack that the New York Times reported was orchestrated by the United States and Israel. The computer worm used in the attack, called Stuxnet, was a powerful example of a cyber assault used to damage physical infrastructure.

Another sophisticated piece of malicious software called Flame has also targeted Iran, infecting around 1,000 computers, according to Russian antivirus firm Kaspersky Lab. Flame can turn on a computer's microphone to record conversations and snap screenshots when an instant message or e-mail account is opened.
