Albert Gonzalez

Albert Gonzalez is a former informant for the U.S. Secret Service who was sentenced to 20 years in prison for what authorities call the largest identity-theft case in U.S. history.

Gonzalez was convicted of being part of an international crime ring that stole 40 million credit- and debit-card numbers from U.S. retailers such as TJX Cos., OfficeMax Inc. and BJ's Wholesale Club Inc. Prosecutors said more than $1 million of the cash he agreed to forfeit was discovered buried in a barrel in his parents' backyard.
