"You cannot beat the ambience" at this former monastery on a cliffside amid trees and terraced gardens just outside Florence. Suites come with "unbelievable views of the City of Lilies." Historians attribute the villa's facade—which dates to the fifteenth century—to Michelangelo. Floral arrangements in large ceramic vases line the floors of corridors with arched ceilings. "Service reaches the pinnacle of perfection," but some decry the "large number of stairs on the property." The terrace of the restaurant Loggia is "great for dinner," as is its regional cuisine.
