The Damage

Israel postponed a decision on launching a ground invasion into the Gaza Strip, giving international negotiators a chance to craft a cease-fire, a government official said as U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton flew to the region.

Palestinians fired more than 50 rockets into Israel today, bringing to more than 1,200 the number launched since Nov. 14. Israel continued its military strikes on Gaza, where the death toll rose to 116, said Ashraf al Qedra, a Hamas official at the Gaza ministry of health.
