Gothenberg, Sweden

Sweden's second city hosts the world's largest half marathon each year—44,093 people ran in 2012. If that sounds too crowded to bother with, consider the course: You'll snake along the banks of the river Göta Älv, past cliffs where you might imagine vikings playing, and around the city's famous 22-foot-tall Poseidon statue. After, fill up on seafood fresh from the North Sea.
