Kentucky

In 2012, 27.2 percent of Kentucky's office-based doctors used basic electronic medical records. That's significantly lower than the national average of 39.6 percent.

Separately, in the same year, 39 percent of physicians in that state actively used systems for electronically prescribing medications, a process that can reduce transcription errors.
