Thousands Across Turkey Protest Erdogan’s Autocratic Style

There were clashes in Ankara, Istanbul and Adana among a total of 67 cities where protests occurred, Interior Minister Muammer Guler told reporters yesterday. He said 173 people, including 115 policemen, were injured and 1,730 detained. About 500 more people were detained in Ankara yesterday, Hurriyet newspaper said.

Protesters clashed with police near Erdogan’s office at Dolmabahce Palace yesterday and today, Milliyet newspaper reported. The Turkish Medical Association said 1,740 people received treatment for injuries or effects of gas, Hurriyet said.
