"You Didn't Build That"
In a July 13 speech President Obama said, "If you've got a business, you didn't build that. Somebody else made that happen." He was referring to the infrastructure businesses rely on and "this unbelievable American system that we have that has allowed you to thrive." His detractors used his truncated comment to score points with entrepreneurs. It became a hashtag on Twitter and a tumblr. Australian video-maker Hugh Atkin came out with a YouTube video to the tune of MC Hammer's "U Can't Touch That," called "U Didn't Build That by MC 'Bama." It's been viewed over a million times.
