North Dakota

In 2012, 63.2 percent of North Dakota's office-based doctors used basic electronic medical records. That's significantly higher than the national average of 39.6 percent.

Separately, in the same year, 67 percent of physicians actively used systems for electronically prescribing medications, a process that can reduce transcription errors.
