Argentina, which has the world's third-biggest shale gas reserves after the U.S. and China, also has its third-biggest fleet of cars that run on compressed natural gas, according to NGV Global, a trade group for natural gas vehicle companies.

The average daily income for Argentines is $33. The share of a day's wages needed to buy a gallon of gas is 16 percent.
