It’s best to avoid narrow, cobbled streets and tricorned tour guides (not to mention the impassable Rockysteps) when you take to two wheels in Philly. Instead, set out from the Philadelphia Museum of Art in the up-and-coming Fairmount neighborhood and ride 27 miles northwest along the mostly paved Schuylkill River Trail to Valley Forge National Historical Park, famed home of George Washington and his fledgling Continental Army for the miserable winter of 1777-78.
