Trident II Missile

Project cost: $40.6 billion

FY 2013 estimate: $1.2 billion

This 65-ton nuclear weapon can travel more than 20,000 feet per second and has a range of 4,600 miles once launched from an Ohio-class submarine, according to the Navy’s website. The missile’s prices are sky-high, too. The Pentagon estimates $2.2 billion in costs for fiscal years 2012 and 2013, with a single missile costing $30.9 million.
