"Since virtually all of his overspeakings are of the genial, hail-fellow-well-met sort, he gets away with it," said Michael Silverstein, professor of anthropology, linguistics and psychology at the University of Chicago. Biden's famous open-mic slip during the signing of the 2010 health care law, when he told Obama "This is a big f--ing deal," has become a tag line.
