Greenland Sweats

Greenland's ice sheet melted over a larger area last month, for several days, than it has at any time in more than three decades, according to a July 24 NASA release. Satellites observed that an estimated 97 percent of the ice covering Greenland melted to some degree at the surface. About half the ice sheet melts every year, with most of the water refreezing at high elevations.
