Capsized in the English Channel

The Herald of Free Enterprise ferried passengers and automobiles across the English Channel. In "prevailing good weather" on March 6, 1987, the ferry left the port of Zeebrugge, Belgium, with its bow doors open, according to the U.K. accident investigation. It capsized within four minutes, killing 193 people.
