These men are trying to salvage electronics equipment floating through the Bangpa-In industrial estate, north of Bangkok. Several hundred factories were flooded, leaving the world's largest computer makers uncertain about when crucial parts will be available.

Thailand makes about a quarter of the world's hard-disk drives and serves as a production hub for carmakers and electronics firms. Consumers worldwide could see the cost of external hard drives increase because of the floods.
