Plug Pulled, Pandamonium Ensues

Think of the U.S. government shutdown as a test of which federal services we truly value. Washington provides many services, some of which we've never heard about and, perhaps, don't personally need. Some activities, like tax auditing, are important, even if we don't mind a break from them. Some services seemed non-essential to Congress, and, it turns out, we just we can't live without them.

At  the top of the list of essential non-essential services is the Panda Cam at the Smithsonian National Zoological Park. Don't despair too much; there's still the San Diego Zoo's Panda Cam.
