Music in the Outdoors

Al fresco tunes are one of summertime’s simplest pleasures. Here’s a preview of this season’s most anticipated music festivals, whether you're into funk or folk (and everything in-between).

Milwaukee, Wisconsin

Dates: June 26–30, July 2–7

Lineup: John Mayer, Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, Rush, The Eagles, Violent Femmes, Jason Aldean, Luke Bryan, Fun, Pitbull, New Kids on the Block, Tim McGraw, Billy Idol, Alice Cooper, LL Cool J, Styx, Pat Benatar, Cake, The Spinners, Blues Traveler, REO Speedwagon, 311

This wildly popular concert places today's hottest hip-hop artists alongside the boy bands of yesterday in one harmonious event, spanning 11 days and just as many stages, on the shores of Lake Michigan. More than 40 food and drink vendors help to sustain the energetic crowds, serving up classic eats like grilled cheese sandwiches and fried everything.
