AMFAR - Janelle Monae

New York Fashion Week parties went through a lot of music, cucumber-infused cocktails, and outfits -- resulting in a see-and-be-seen extravaganza. From Cipriani Wall Street to Double Seven to Acme to Stone Rose Lounge, party hot spots opened their doors to designers, models and actors. Here's a peek.

The week started with fashion royalty like Linda Evangelista and Heidi Klum assembling downtown at a benefit for American Foundation for AIDS research. Michaelangelo L'Acqua, the director of global music for W Hotels Worldwide, warmed up the crowd with Tosca, an electronic duo from the '90s. "I'm aiming for sexy sophistication," said L'Acqua. "Something to open the mind and senses."

Janelle Monae's set at the end of the evening consisted of "I Want You Back" by the Jackson 5, the standard "Smile" and her "Tightrope," which she ended by descending the stage in a black cape, dancing through the crowd -- and right past Goldman Sachs partner Marty Chavez.
