Hiut Denim Co. reopened a shuttered jeans factory and brought the business back to the small town of Cardigan, U.K. The company’s motto: Do one thing well.
Each pair of Hiut’s $300 selvedge jeans are cut from Japanese denim and sewn by one of the company’s “Grand Masters.” The process is laborious; Hiut makes just 100 pairs a week. The jeans come with a “history tag” so future wearers can see where they’ve been.
It’s “a gorgeous investment for the long haul,” Gershbein says. “It becomes a part of your body.”
