A woman and her son sow seeds on a small plot already planted with corn, taro and squash, on the same side of a road that the proposed Herakles Farms oil palm concession would occupy.

Local farmers and hunters worry about their future if the nearby forest is cut down and converted to a monoculture oil palm plantation as planned. Villagers haven't surveyed the precise boundaries of their land. While many have used the resources of the land and forest for generations, they hold no legal title to most of the land they work.
