Broccoli Dogs

You experience a bit of cognitive dissonance when you try the broccoli dogs ($21) at Dirt Candy in Manhattan's East Village. They look like vegetables, but they taste like New York-style frankfurters. Sort of. Chef Amanda Cohen smokes and grills the stalks, before placing them in homemade buns with broccoli rabe oil, micro-broccoli greens, broccoli sauerkraut and a BBQ mustard sauce. They would most definitely sell out at ballgames.
