Economics, computer science and engineering together accounted for nearly 60 percent of undergraduate majors among the technology chief executives. Specifically, 22 percent majored in economics, 20 percent in computer science and 17 percent in engineering.

By comparison, among Fortune 100 CEOs across all industries, 17 percent majored in engineering while business administration and economics each accounted for 12 percent, according to Russell Reynolds.
