#11 Wind, Hail and 81 Tornadoes

An estimated 81 tornadoes flipped trucks, downed power lines and damaged homes across 11 states in the five days ending on June 22. Funnels touched down from Texas to South Carolina. At least three people died.

A cluster of at least five tornadoes struck the Louisville, Kentucky, area on June 22. Several buildings at Churchill Downs, home of the Kentucky Derby horse race, were seriously damaged. Losses exceeded $1.3 billion.

A rain-wrapped tornado forms near the junction of two storms in southeastern Nebraska. Four-inch hailstones were reported.
