Abraham Lincoln and Mitt!

Following presidential candidates on the campaign trail, hearing the same stump speeches over and over, can be trying for any reporter or photographer. But Chip Somodevilla found a new way to tell the story. The Getty Images photographer took a break from using his cameras and turned to the iPhone 4S to capture these shots. In his series of black and white diptychs -- two photos paired together for better storytelling -- Somodevilla reveals some of the humor, as well as the work, that goes on before a candidate shows up and after he leaves.

Left, GQ photographer Mark Peterson photographs George Engelbach, dressed as former President Abraham Lincoln, on the floor before the start of the second day of the Republican National Convention. This image is paired with a woman holding a Mitt! sign.
