An Angry God

THREAT: An omniscient, omnipotent deity punishes beings created in his image who have been behaving badly. Flooding is a popular plague, notwithstanding collateral damage to other animals.

REALITY: Flooding might be prevented by using a strategy developed by coastal sustainability experts at the Lake Pontchartrain Basin Foundation after Hurricane Katrina devastated New Orleans in 2005. The strategy includes a system of both soft and hard engineering features to lessen flood impacts -- barrier islands, marsh, elevated homes, levees and pump houses.

Remember that such gods are known to help those who help themselves.
