Total compensation: $64.9 million

The compensation of Activision Blizzard CEO Robert Kotick increased almost eightfold last year, with the bulk coming from stock awards valued at $55.9 million, according to a filing by the video-game software company. 

Shares of the Santa Monica, California-based company, which makes games such as "Call of Duty" and "Tony Hawk's Pro Skater," have risen 44 percent this year, giving the company a $17.1 billion market value.
