Christopher Pissarides

Nobel Economics Laureate:

The expectation in the U.K. "is that Britain can continue to have free trade relations with Europe yet be outside the union in terms of the budget, in terms of political decisions. I don't think that's a very realistic view. Switzerland and Norway have such access but they are small countries and they re just going along with the European decisions. They're not too concerned about the politics, they don't want to be world leaders, they don't have special relationships with the U.S."
