Who makes it: Fitbit
What it costs: $60
Why we like it: The first Fitbit activity tracker won fans with its simple design and ease of use, but it had one weakness: It required a base station tethered to a computer to wirelessly grab data from the device. The battery-operated Zip needs no base station; it wirelessly transmits the data to your iPhone using low-power Bluetooth. A new $100 version, the Fitbit One, even gives you extra credit for taking the stairs.
