Use Unsustainable Palm Oil

Palm oil is used in food, cosmetics and biofuels all over the world. Planting and harvesting it has led to destruction of tropical forests and unique biodiversity, and the disruption of nearby communities.

Nestle, Unilever, P&G, Johnson & Johnson, and Wal-Mart Stores are all among the major companies committed to use 100 percent sustainable palm oil, according to the Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil.

With this level of global corporate, NGO and governmental attention, there’s not a lot a lone consumer can do to buck the trend.
