Scourge of the Superbugs

A new generation of drug-resistant superbugs born in India can turn a scraped knee into a death sentence. To explain how, Jason Gale and Adi Narayan interviewed more than 80 people, from a Norwegian patient to Indian microbiologists, and read more than 200 studies. Poor hygiene and excessive use of antibiotics have spread resistant germs into India's drinking water and its hospitals. Gale and Narayan describe how the altered bacteria have jumped from these Indian reservoirs to more than 40 countries.
