With Friends Like These

Vice President Dick Cheney accidentally shot his friend in the face while hunting quail in Texas in February 2006. The friend didn't die, but neither did the coverage and questions, including one on how long it took Cheney and the White House to mention the incident to the press corps. The vice president, an experienced hunter, took fire from comedians such as Jon Stewart, who said the incident made Cheney's friend "the first person shot by a sitting veep since Alexander Hamilton."
