Be an Expert

Evernote CEO Phil Libin says he's not much of an expert in anything. (But don't get him started on sushi.) Innovations don't typically come from the experts, he says. Instead, it comes from fresh eyes that can look at a problem in new ways.

"Innovation sometimes comes when you have just enough knowledge about a subject to feel it in your gut but not enough to be trapped by its established rules," Libin says. "Be an enthusiast, not an expert."
