Sixteen percent of the top 50 U.S. technology companies called out the e-commerce giant as a threat in their annual filings with the SEC. EBay and Google were among the eight companies that listed Amazon.com in the risk factors or competitors section of their 10-K reports.
Amazon is bulking up its retail operations, including opening more distribution centers and working on the ability to deliver packages via drones. The Seattle-based company is also expanding Amazon Web Services, which is the leading cloud-computing provider.
