'Trying to Supplement'

Evernote describes its service as "your external brain" or a way to "remember everything." Users dump photographs, scanned documents, quick notes and other information into their accounts, where they can easily organize and search for their data.

"The thing that makes the human brain really magical is it physically changes in the presence of technology," Libin said. "So if you have important new tools that you understand, they change the way that your brain is fired up."
