AOL Running Man

The leaning yellow stick figure was supposed to represent the speed of AOL's communications software. As the world began moving to broadband by the middle of last decade, AOL suddenly became viewed as a relic of the turtle-speed dial-up Internet days.

The AOL Running Man was inducted into the Madison Avenue Advertising Walk of Fame in 2009, along with the Budweiser Clydesdales, and joined the who's-who of corporate mascots. Two months later, AOL apparently abandoned its Running Man when the company's strategy shifted to news and video production.
