The company’s programmable devices and associated technologies include integrated circuits (ICs) in the form of programmable logic devices (PLDs), including programmable system on chips (SoCs) and three-dimensional ICs (3D ICs); software design tools to program the PLDs; targeted reference designs; printed circuit boards; and intellectual property (IP), which consists of Xilinx and various third-party verification and IP cores. The company’s PLDs include field programmable gate arrays (FPGAs); complex PLDs (CPLDs) that its customers program to perform desired logic functions; and programmable SoCs, which combine ARM processor-based systems with programmable logic in a single device. It also designs and develops 3D ICs, which combine multiple FPGA logic die or a combination of FPGA and transceiver die in a single package to exceed the capacity and bandwidth of monolithic devices. The company’s product portfolio is designed to provide integration and time-to-market for electronic equipment manufacturers in end markets, such as wired and wireless communications, industrial, scientific and medical, aerospace and defense, audio, video and broadcast, consumer, automotive and test and measurement. The company sells its products and services through independent domestic and foreign distributors, and through direct sales to original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) and electronic manufacturing service providers (EMS). Sales are generated by these independent distributors, independent sales representative, or its direct sales organization. Product Families UltraScale+ Product Families The company offers the UltraScale+ portfolio, which consists of three product families, and is manufactured using Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company Limited's (TSMC) 16 nanometer (nm) FinFET+ process. The UltraScale+ portfolio includes FPGAs, 3D IC technology, and MPSoCs, combining new memory, 3D - on 3D and multiprocessing SoC technologies. With this portfolio, the company addresses a range of next generation applications, including LTE Advanced and early 5G Wireless infrastructure, terabit wired communications, automotive, and the industrial Internet-of-things (IoT). UltraScale Product Families These devices deliver an ASIC-class advantage, based on the UltraScale architecture and utilizing TSMC's 20SoC gate density process. These devices deliver next generation routing, ASIC-like clocking, and enhancements to logic and fabric to eliminate interconnect bottlenecks while supporting consistent device utilization of approximately 90% without performance degradation. Kintex UltraScale FPGAs represent the company’s second generation mid-range FPGA family. Kintex UltraScale devices are designed to meet the requirements for the key applications, including wired and wireless communications and ultra-high definition displays and equipment. Virtex UltraScale devices provide advanced levels of performance, system integration and bandwidth on a single chip. Virtex UltraScale devices applications include the following: 400G communication applications, high performance computing, intelligence surveillance and reconnaissance systems and ASIC emulation and prototyping. 28nm Product Families The 28nm product families are fabricated on a high-K metal gate, high performance and low power 28nm process technology. These product families are based on a scalable and optimized architecture, which enables design, IP portability and re-use across all families as well as provides designers the ability to achieve the appropriate combination of I/O support, performance, feature quantities, packaging and power consumption to address a range of applications.
