The company also manufactures other products, such as original equipment manufacturing parts, including extruded aluminum and other component products for other manufacturers and commercial vehicles. Products The company designs, develops, manufactures, and markets motorized and towable recreation products along with supporting products and services. Motorhomes, Parts, and Service A motorhome is a self-propelled mobile dwelling used primarily as temporary living quarters during vacation and camping trips, or to support some other active lifestyle. The Recreation Vehicle Industry Association (RVIA) classifies motorhomes into three types, all of which the company manufactures and sells under the Winnebago brand name. Class A: Conventional motorhomes constructed directly on medium- and heavy-duty truck chassis, including the engine and drivetrain components. The living area and driver's compartment are designed and produced by the motorhome manufacturer. Class B (Gas and Diesel): Panel-type vans to which sleeping, kitchen, and/or toilet facilities are added. These models might also have an extension to provide headroom. Class C (Gas and Diesel): Motorhomes built on van-type chassis onto which the motorhome manufacturer constructs a living area with access to the driver's compartment. Motorhomes provide living accommodations for approximately seven people and include kitchen, dining, sleeping, and bath areas, as well as in various models, a lounge. Optional equipment accessories include, among other items, generators, home theater systems, king-size beds, and UltraLeather upholstery, as well as a selection of interior equipment. With the purchase of any new motorhome, the company offers a 12-month/15,000-mile warranty on the coach, and for Class A and C motorhomes, a 3-year/36,000-mile structural warranty on sidewalls and floors. The company’s Class A, B, and C motorhomes are sold by dealers in the retail market. Its motorhomes range in length from 21 to 43 feet. Towables A towable is a non-motorized vehicle that is designed to be towed by passenger automobiles, pickup trucks, SUVs, or vans; and is used as temporary living quarters for recreational travel. The RVIA classifies towables in four types, such as conventional travel trailers, which are towed by means of a hitch attached to the frame of the vehicle; fifth wheels, which are constructed with a raised forward section that is connected to the vehicle with a special fifth wheel hitch; folding campers trailers; and truck campers. The company manufactures and sells conventional travel trailers and fifth wheels under the Winnebago brand name. Other Manufactured Products The company manufactures aluminum extrusions, which are sold to approximately 80 customers. It manufactures other component parts sold to outside manufacturers. The company also manufactures commercial vehicles, which are motorhome shells, primarily custom designed for the buyer's special needs and requirements, such as law enforcement command centers, and mobile medical and dental clinics. These commercial vehicles are sold through the company’s dealer network. In addition, the company provides commercial vehicles as bare shells to third-party upfitters for conversion at their facilities. The company’s transit buses are marketed under the trade names, such as Metro, Metro Link, and Metro Connect; and distributed to a nationwide dealer network through its distribution partner, Metro Worldwide.
