The company operates its company-branded platform on the TrueCar Website and its branded mobile experience. It customizes and operates its platform on a co-branded basis for its many affinity group marketing partners, including financial institutions like United Services Automobile Association (USAA) and American Express, membership-based organizations like Consumer Reports, AARP and AAA, and employee buying programs for large enterprises, such as IBM and Walmart. The company enables users to obtain data on new and used cars, and to connect with its network of TrueCar Certified Dealers. The company also allows automobile manufacturers, known in the industry as OEMs, to connect with TrueCar users in the purchase process and delivers incentives specifically targeted to individual consumers. The company’s network of approximately 10,000 TrueCar Certified Dealers consists primarily of new car franchises, representing all major makes of cars, as well as independent dealers selling used vehicles. TrueCar Certified Dealers operate in all 50 states and the District of Columbia. TrueCar users have purchased approximately 1.7 million new and used vehicles from TrueCar Certified Dealers, including approximately 600,000 vehicles in 2014. The company’s subsidiary, ALG, Inc., provides data and consulting services regarding determination of the residual value of an automobile at given future points in time. These residual values are used to underwrite automotive loans and leases to determine payments by consumers. It also obtains automobile purchase data from various sources and uses this data to provide consumers and dealers with geographically specific, real-time pricing information. Consumer The company provides access to its platform. Consumers interface with the company through its Website and its TrueCar branded mobile applications and affinity group marketing partner Websites. Dealer The company’s network of TrueCar Certified Dealers interfaces with its platform primarily through its Dealer Portal, an application that can be accessed online or using a mobile device. Its TrueCar Certified Dealers generally must provide the company access to their transaction and inventory data located in the software used to run their dealerships, commonly known as their Dealer Management System. The company’s platform typically updates dealer records on a daily basis, ensuring this information stays current. Pricing Tools: The Pricing Manager provides dealers with a single interface to assess the competiveness of their vehicle pricing relative to their market and set pricing on all makes and models they offer for sale. Closing Tools: The Offer Tool helps dealers create custom detailed offers based on vehicles in stock. The Dealership Profile enables dealers to identify their selling benefits to customers, including salesperson names and pictures, dealership makes, hours of operation and Website and social media links. Training Tools: The TrueCar Dealer Training System combines videos and interactive tests to help dealers better understand and more effectively use its various products. Manufacturers The company enables manufacturers to target consumers based on membership in an affinity group, demographic data and other criteria. By integrating this process into its platform, manufacturers provide consumers the ability to generate a coupon that can be redeemed and validated at any dealership across the country in connection with the purchase of a new car. By tracking these incentives in their own reporting systems, manufacturers can account directly for this method of reaching consumers.
