TOTAL S.A., together with its subsidiaries and affiliates, operates as an integrated international oil and gas company. With operations in approximately 130 countries, the company is engaged in all sectors of the oil industry, including upstream (hydrocarbon exploration, development and production) and downstream (refining, petrochemicals, specialty chemicals, trading and shipping of crude oil and petroleum products and marketing). It also operates in the power generation and renewable energy sectors. Reserves As of December 31, 2015, the company’s proved developed reserves of oil and gas included 6,186 Mboe. Segments The company’s activities are divided into three business segments as follows: an Upstream segment including, alongside the activities of the Exploration and Production of hydrocarbons, the activities of Gas; a Refining & Chemicals segment constituting a major industrial hub comprising the activities of refining, petrochemicals and specialty chemicals. This segment also includes the activities of oil Trading & Shipping; and marine shipping; and a Marketing & Services segment including the activities of supply and marketing in the field of petroleum products, as well as the activity of New Energies. Upstream This segment has exploration and production activities in approximately 50 countries and produces oil or gas in approximately 30 countries. Gas & Power conducts activities downstream from production related to natural gas, liquefied natural gas (LNG) and liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), as well as power generation and trading, and other activities. Liquefied natural gas: The company has a diversified position both in the upstream and downstream portions of the LNG chain. Through its stakes in liquefaction plants located in Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, Oman, Nigeria, Norway, Yemen, Angola and Australia as well as a gas supply agreement with the Bontang LNG plant in Indonesia, the company markets LNG in all worldwide markets. The company also holds interests in exploration licenses in Malaysia and the Philippines. In the Netherlands, the company holds interests in 24 offshore production licenses, including 20 that it operates, and 2 offshore exploration licenses, E17c (16.92%) and K1c (30%). The company operates the Al Khalij field (40% operator) and participates in the production, processing and exporting of gas from the North Field due to investments in the Qatargas 1 and Qatargas 2 LNG plants and in Dolphin Energy. In Syria, the company has a 100% stake in the Deir Ez Zor license, which is operated by the joint venture company DEZPC in which TOTAL and the state-owned company SPC each have a 50% share. Refining & Chemicals The Refining & Chemicals segment includes the company’s refining, petrochemicals and specialty chemicals businesses. The company’s refining capacity was 1,699 kb/d, as of December 31, 2015. In Europe, the company produces biofuel, namely hydrotreated vegetable oils for incorporation into diesel, and ether produced from ethanol and isobutene (ETBE) for incorporation into gasoline. In 2015, the company finalized the divestment of its wholly-owned subsidiary Bostik, specialized in adhesive chemicals. Refining & Chemicals includes the company’s refining, petrochemicals and specialty chemicals businesses, such as the petrochemicals business includes base petrochemicals (olefins and aromatics) and polymer derivatives (polyethylene, polypropylene, polystyrene and hydrocarbon resins); and the specialty chemicals business includes elastomer processing and electroplating chemistry. The company markets specialty products in approximately 60 countries and intends to develop by combining organic growth and targeted acquisitions. In Saudi Arabia, the company has a 37.5% stake in the company, SATORP (Saudi Aramco Total Refining and Petrochemical Company), which operates the Jubail refinery. This refinery, fully operational since mid-2014, has a capacity of 400 kb/d and is situated close to Saudi Arabia’s heavy crude oil fields. In China, the company holds a 22.4% stake in DALIAN WEST PACIFIC PETROCHEMICAL CO LTD, a company that operates a refinery located in Dalian
