Statoil ASA engages in oil and gas exploration and production activities. The company has operations in 33 countries and territories. Segments The company’s segments include Development and Production Norway (DPN); Development and Production International (DPI), which combines the DPI and Development & Production North America (DPNA) business areas; Marketing, Processing and Renewable Energy (MPR); and Other. DPN DPN consists of the company’s exploration, field development and operational activities on the Norwegian continental shelf (NCS). In 2013, the company had 44 Statoil-operated assets in the North Sea, the Norwegian Sea and the Barents Sea, and also operates a significant number of exploration licenses. DPN has organized the production operations into five business clusters, such as Operations North, Operations Mid-Norway, Operations North Sea West, Operations North Sea East and Operations South. Operations North: The main producing fields in the Operations North area are Snøhvit, Norne and Skuld. The company has 36.79% interest in Snøhvit; 39.10% interest in Norne; and 63.95% interest in Skuld. Operations Mid-Norway: The main producing fields in the Operations Mid-Norway area are Åsgard, Mikkel, Morvin, Heidrun, Kristin, Tyrihans, Njord and Hyme. The company has 34.57% interest in Åsgard field; 43.97% interest in Mikkel; 64.00% interest in Morvin; 13.04% interest in Heidrun; 55.30% interest in Kristin; 58.84% interest in Tyrihans; 20.00% interest in Njord; and 35.00% interest in Hyme. Operations North Sea West: The main producing fields in the area are Gullfaks, Kvitebjørn and Grane. The company has 51.00% interest in Gullfaks; 39.55% interest in Kvitebjørn; 36.66% interest in Grane; 53.20% interest in Visund; 29.44% interest in Heimdal; 59.60 % interest in Volve; 18.00 % interest in Veslefrikk; 19.90 % interest in Huldra; and 58.90% interest in Glitne. Operations North Sea East: The main producing fields in the area are Troll and Oseberg. The company has 30.58% interest in Troll; and 49.30% interest in Oseberg area. Operations South: The main producing fields in Operations South are Sleipner, Snorre and Statfjord. Sleipner consists of the Sleipner East (Statoil interest 59.60%), Gungne (Statoil interest 62.00%) and Sleipner West (Statoil interest 58.35%) gas and condensate fields. The Snorre field (Statoil interest 33.32%) development involves two floating platforms and one subsea production system connected to one of the platforms (Snorre A). Statfjord (Statoil interest 44.34%) has been developed using three fully integrated platforms supported by gravity-based structures with concrete storage cells and an offshore loading system. The Statfjord satellites consist of Statfjord North (Statoil interest 21.88%), Statfjord East (Statoil interest 31.69%) and Sygna (Statoil interest 30.71%). Partner-Operated Fields The main producing fields are Ormen Lange, Skarv, Ekofisk and Gjøa. The company has 25.35% interest in Ormen Lange; 36.17% interest in Skarv; 6.64% interest in Ekofisk; and 5.00% interest in Gjøa. North Sea: In the North Sea, the company participated in 21 completed exploration wells and 7 exploration extension wells. The company operated 10 of the exploration wells. Five of the Statoil-operated wells (namely Grane F, Askja West, and three Johan Sverdrup appraisal wells) and six of the partner-operated wells were announced as discoveries. Norwegian Sea: A total of eight wells were drilled in the Norwegian Sea, of which the company operated seven. Barents Sea: Six wells were completed in the Barents Sea in 2013, with the company operating three of them. Fields under Development on the NCS The company has 75.00% interest in Aasta Hansteen; 51.00% interest in the Gudrun; 53.78% interest in Valemon; and 58.46% interest in Gina Krog. Ivar Aasen is an oil and gas field located in the Utsira High Area. The Ivar Aasen development is operated by Det norske, and the company holds an interest of 50%.
