Broadband Infrastructure Segment This segment includes ADSL and fiber-optic high-speed Internet connection service, IP telephony service, wireless LAN, provision of broadcast, VOD service, content and other operations. The operating companies in this segment include BB TECHNOLOGY Corp.; SOFTBANK BB Corp.; BB Mobile Corp.; and BB Cable Corporation. Fixed-line Telecommunications Segment This segment includes fixed-line telecommunications, such as voice transmission service, data transmission service and private leased circuit. The operating companies in this segment include JAPAN TELECOM CO., LTD. and SOFTBANK IDC Corp. e-Commerce Segment This segment includes distribution of PC software and such hardware as PCs and peripherals, enterprise solutions, and diversified e-commerce businesses, including business transaction platform (B2B) and consumer-related e-commerce (B2C). This also includes ASP service business (security services, and software services). The operating companies in this segment include SOFTBANK BB Corp.; Vector, Inc.; Carview Corporation; and GungHo Online Entertainment, Inc. Internet Culture Segment This segment includes Internet-based advertising operations, broadband portal business, and Internet-based auction business. The operating companies in this segment include Yahoo Japan Corporation and Corporation. Others Segment This segment includes: Broadmedia, Technology Services, Media & Marketing, Overseas Funds, and Other Businesses. The businesses include Game-on-demand business; CDN business; Media content business; e-business service; System solution business; Broadband solution business; Publication of magazines and books; Operation of IT-specialized portals; e-library business; and Digital content business. Broadmedia: This segment includes supporting for procurement of contents for broadband service such as broadcasting and communications. The operating company in this segment includes Club IT Corporation. Technology Services: This segment includes system solution business and business solution business. The operating company in this segment includes SOFTBANK TECHNOLOGY CORP. Media & Marketing: This segment includes book and magazine publication in such areas as PCs, the Internet, entertainment and development of web content specializing in IT. The operating companies in this segment include SOFTBANK Creative Corp. and ITmedia, Inc. Overseas Funds: This segment includes U.S. and Asia-focused global venture capital business with a main focus on Internet-related companies. Other Businesses: This segment includes leisure and service business, holding company functions for overseas operations, and back-office services in Japan. The operating companies in Overseas Funds and Other Businesses include SOFTBANK Holdings, Inc.; Fukuoka Softbank Hawks Corp.; TV Bank Corporation; and SBI Holdings, Inc. Acquisitions In April 2006, the Company acquired Vodafone K.K. With the acquisition of this the Company entered into the mobile communications business. Vodafone engages in the mobile communication business through cellular phone service and sale of mobile terminals associated with the service. The Company plans to establish the Mobile Communications segment, which would include the operations of the Group companies involved in mobile communications, such as BB Mobile Corp. and Vodafone K.K. Significant Events, a unit of Fox Interactive Media Inc., and SOFTBANK CORP. have entered into a 50-50 joint venture to launch MySpace KK.
