Central functions manage RBS capital resources and RBS-wide regulatory projects, and provide services to the segments. Balances in relation to Citizens and the international private banking business are included in Central items in the relevant periods. The company primarily serves the U.K. and Republic of Ireland customers through retail and commercial banking activities. PBB provides various traditional retail banking products, including current and savings accounts, residential mortgages and credit cards in the U.K. through UK PBB and in the Republic of Ireland through Ulster Bank RoI. CPB provides loan products and investment services. History The company was founded in 1727. It was incorporated and registered in Scotland under the Companies Act 1948 as a limited company in 1968 under the name National and Commercial Banking Group Limited. In 1979, the company changed its name to The Royal Bank of Scotland Group Limited. Further, the company changed its name to The Royal Bank of Scotland Group plc in 1982 and was registered under the Companies Acts 1948 to 1980 as a public company with limited liability.
