Commercial Banking This segment is a major provider of banking, finance, and risk management services to the commercial, mid-corporate, and corporate sector in the U.K. It offers a range of banking products and related financial services through a nationwide network of relationship managers, telephone, and Internet channels. The product range includes invoice finance through the RBSIF brand and asset finance through the Lombard brand. Private Banking This segment provides banking and wealth management services in the U.K. through Coutts & Co and Adam & Company; offshore through RBS International and Isle of Man Bank; and internationally through Coutts & Co Ltd. Corporate & Institutional Banking (CIB) CIB serves the company’s corporate and institutional clients primarily in the U.K. and Western Europe, as well as those U.S. and Asian multinationals with trade and investment links in the region, with debt financing, risk management and trade services, focusing on core product capabilities that are of relevance to its clients. Central Functions Central Functions comprises corporate functions, such as treasury, finance, risk management, compliance, legal, communications, and human resources. Central Functions manages the company’s capital resources and company-wide regulatory projects and provides services to the segments. In addition, the company would continue to manage and report CFG and RBS Capital Resolution Group (RCR). CFG provides financial services primarily through the Citizens and Charter One brands. CFG engages in retail and corporate banking activities through its branch network in 11 states in the United States and through non-branch offices in other states. The company disposed of 29.5% of its interest in CFG in 2014. RCR became operational in 2014. Dispositions In 2014, the company divested Direct Line Insurance Group plc. History The company was founded in 1727. It was incorporated and registered in Scotland under the Companies Act 1948 as a limited company in 1968 under the name National and Commercial Banking Group Limited. In 1979, the company changed its name to The Royal Bank of Scotland Group Limited. Further, the company changed its name to The Royal Bank of Scotland Group plc in 1982 and was registered under the Companies Acts 1948 to 1980 as a public company with limited liability.
